Install licenses

Unisphere for PowerMax supports electronic licensing (e-Licensing) and dynamic licensing to help you track and comply with software license entitlements.

Prerequisites

The licensing method available depends on the storage system. For systems born on PowerMaxOS 10 Q2 2026, or later, either dynamic licensing or the legacy e-Licensing method can be used. Older systems, or systems that have been upgraded to PowerMaxOS 10 Q2 2026, continue to use e-Licensing.
  • To complete this task, you must be an Administrator or StorageAdmin.
  • Before you can use Unisphere to manage a storage system, you must first install a license on the storage system.
  • When using e-Licensing, to obtain storage system-based licenses from the support website, you need the License Authorization Code (LAC) identification number from the LAC letter that is emailed to you.
  • Licenses can be installed only on storage systems running PowerMaxOS 10 (6079).
NOTE: If you enable dynamic licensing, you cannot revert to using a legacy, key based license.
NOTE: Do not enable dynamic licensing if the current license is activated with a Transformational Licensing Agreement (TLA).
